On the day of treatment

  • Get a good night's sleep before treatment
  • Continue taking your prescribed medications on the day of treatment UNLESS otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.
  • Do not consume alcohol, marijuana or any recreational drugs for 24 hours before or after treatment.
  • Do not eat or drink for 4-6 hours prior to treatment. This helps limit the risk of nausea and vomiting
  • Dress in comfortable layers so that you do not get too warm or too cold. Each treatment room is also equipped with a fan, space heater and blanket to help keep you comfortable.
  • Feel free to bring your own blanket, pillow, eye mask and/or headphones to use during treatment. You may also want to bring a small notebook to write down thoughts or feelings you have during your session.

During treatment

  • Understand that there is no "right" or "wrong" ketamine experience. The level of dissociation experienced varies from person to person and even from treatment to treatment. The amount of dissociation you experience does not directly correlate with the amount of benefit you receive from your ketamine treatment.
  • Approach your experience with curiosity rather than judgment. Difficult experiences can be powerful teachers.
  •  Don't feel discouraged if you don't have an "Oh wow!" moment during the session. Insight and clarity often come in the days following treatment rather then during the actual session. Additionally, working closely with a therapist in conjunction with ketamine treatment can help you process thoughts and ideas that arise resulting in greater benefit.

Immediately after treatment

  • Arrange for a ride home as you will not be able to drive or operate heavy machinery for the remainder of the day after ketamine treatment.
  • You may resume a normal diet following treatment as tolerated.
  • Clear your schedule for the remainder of the day. Taking time for rest and self-reflection is part of the ketamine process.
